 Trainer/ Behaviourist / Walker/ Administrator/ First Assistant

That Dog Guy is a friendly skilled team of trainers and behaviourists and their Assistants, providing group walks in country parks, Training walks, Behaviour consults and Puppy training in Hammersmith and Chiswick West London.

ROLES

We are looking for various roles including another full time behaviourist or trainer as well as a full time assistant/ apprentice to That Dog Guy .

We are also interested in some ad hoc walking assistants.

Everyone, especially the assistant will likely be involved in all areas of the business but depending on your skill level your work may look like this.

Behaviourist

1 or 2 group walks per day (with pick ups and drop off’s and drying the dogs) and 1 or two 121 training walks per day or behaviour consults with the client. Your client list of behaviour clients will build and you will find yourself doing much less walking if that is your wish but with walks to fall back on if you ever have a quiet period.

Your group walks may well have 1 training client on them that you have graduated from 121 walks to continue their work in group. You may be asked to oversee trainers plans. You may have access to assistants to use to manage stooge dogs etc in return for teaching them during your sessions.

Trainer

1 or 2 group walks of 8 dogs with an assistant per day (with pick ups and drop offs and drying the dogs) and 1 or two 121 training walks per day.

Your group walks may well have 1 training client on them that you have graduated from 121 walks to continue their work in a group.

First assistant/ Cover

You would assist Tom and the main team/trainers on walks and do drop off’s pick up’s and errands like dropping off a dog or buying a client who’s just had a baby etc a gift. You would be trained you up to manage walks of 8 dogs with an assistant yourself to cover when people are on holiday. You are likely to have your own regular small groups and 121 walks to do each day as well. You would get to shadow and assist some training sessions. The ideal first assist would learn about all the dogs and clients and so how to schedule and be prepared to potentially manage the business.

Groomer & First assistant/ Cover

If you are a groomer, you would be doing grooming but we would also train you up to manage walks of 8 dogs with an assistant to cover when people are on holiday. You are likely to find yourself doing some walks / pick up and drop off in between grooming appointments too. The ideal groomer would also be able to be trainer up to manage scheduling of administration of the business.

YOUR HOURS

You would want to be available 8.15am-5.15pm Monday to Friday.

*During heatwaves some early starts will be required but PMs will then be off or just relaxing indoors with some dogs.

The ideal candidate would be able to offer to do a walk on weekend days and some boarding and move to the area—potentially Friday PM off but Sat AM on for example.

REQUIREMENTS

You MUST be able to drive and for our vehicles, this means a clean license for over 3 years and have lived in the UK for at least 1 year. Alternatively, you may be asked to pay the additional insurance premium or supply your own vehicle or insurance.

Excellent communication skills, organization, timing and reliability.

Lateness or poor organisation leads to it getting dark in winter so not fitting in the walks or dogs being left at home too long so, it is a critical skill.

You will need two professional references who are willing to speak to us about you as opposed to just confirming employment dates.

We have a really nice, fun team who have always got your back in your own dog emergencies and in general. We have BBQ’s and dinners etc but no obligation to come. One of the greatest things is if you are a trainer you could link up with another trainer doing another dog at the same time and use each other to both your dog’s benefit. Equally, you could join one of the dog walkers to help integrate the dog you are working on into a group or use them as strangers etc…
