LOOK-LOOK-LOOK

Objective:

Your dog looks where you are pointing.

This is a great entry exercise for training for both you and your dog and is also a very useful alternative behaviour to ask for in many situations, such as for a recall or to get your dog away from your hair brush or those shoes.

Steps:

  1. Start close to your dog.

  2. Draw your Dog’s attention by tapping the floor with your finger.

  3. When your dog IS looking say the cue ‘Look, Look, Look’

  4. Drop the treat you have concealed in your hand and give your Reward Mark. ‘Good.’

This should all be a quick and accurate movement so your dog learns as fast as possible.

Now work this exercise to fluency by practising in different rooms, varying when you treat, varying distance, add Distraction.
